‘New Orleans Emergency’ McCallum Has Pneumothorax Relapse…Return Date TBD

New Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCollum, 32, will be out for an undetermined amount of time.

New Orleans announced on Saturday (Nov. 6) that MRL imaging revealed a small pneumothorax in McCollum’s right lung.

McCullum will undergo further testing in the next 48 hours to determine a course of treatment. However, McCullum appeared to be in good spirits following the diagnosis, responding to a photo of him holding his right chest on his personal social network X (formerly Twitter) with the words, “This is an appropriate photo to post with the news” and a smiley face emoji.

This is the second time McCollum has been diagnosed with a pneumothorax. The first occurred in the fourth quarter of a December 2021 game against the Boston Celtics while he was playing for the Portland Trailblazers. McCollum missed 18 games in six weeks before returning to Portland’s roster on Jan. 18 of the following year.

It’s not known exactly when McCollum’s second injury occurred. He previously played 33 minutes in New Orleans’ 123-105 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Dec. 4.

McCollum, who has played in all of New Orleans’ first six games, is averaging 21.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 38 percent from 3-point range in 34.3 minutes per game.

New Orleans’ backcourt, meanwhile, has been without Jose Alvarado since the season opener to deal with a sprained ankle. Add to that the fact that McCollum won’t be back for a while, and it means Dyson Daniels will move up to the starting lineup, with Kira Lewis Jr. getting some playing time. 토토사이트

Currently, New Orleans has four wins in six games. They open a three-game road trip against the defending champion Denver Nuggets at the Oracle Arena on Nov. 7 without McCollum.
