Professional basketball’s Wonju DB has won its opening three games in a row.
The DB won 101-90 at home against Busan KCC in the 2023-24 regular season at Wonju General Gymnasium on Monday. With the opening three wins, DB is tied with the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis, who also won three games after beating Seoul SK the day before.
Kim Joo-sung, who was the acting head coach last season, has shown the ability to pick up three wins after being named the official head coach. On the other hand, KCC, which was dubbed a “super team” after being tipped as a strong favorite to win the title, confirmed its defeat by confirming the injury absence of new signing Choi Jun-yong.
Dedrick Lawson led the way with a double-double of 38 points and 10 rebounds, including three three-pointers. Four assists and three steals were the spice. Kang Sang-jae had an even performance with 20 points, including 11 points in the fourth quarter alone, while Lee Sun Albano showed off his range and scoring ability with 18 points and nine assists.
KCC showed off its offensive prowess with Alize DeShawn Johnson exploding for 23 points and 21 rebounds, Hwoong adding 19 points and Chung Chang-Young 16, but turnovers were a problem on defense. They also couldn’t accumulate the points they needed to, shooting just over 50% from the free throw line. 토스카지노 도메인
After falling behind by 18 points in the first half, DB managed to close to 71-76 in the third quarter and tied the game at 83-83 in the fourth quarter when Kim Young-hyun and Park In-woong hit three-pointers and Albano found the bottom of the net. Taking the lead, DB sealed the victory with a three-pointer by Kang Sang-jae on a Lawson midrange shot. KCC will be desperate for the return of Song Kyo-chang and the recovery of Choi Jun-yong from injury as they head into next month.
Changwon LG ended its opening three-game losing streak with a 92-83 victory over Daegu Korea Gas Corporation at Daegu Gymnasium. Free agent signing Yang Hong-seok scored 15 points, including four 3-pointers, while Asem Marei paced the offense with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Gasworks was led by 31 points and 10 rebounds from debutant Andrew Nicholson and 19 points from Semyosef Belangel, but the lack of domestic players was disappointing.
Anyang Chungkwanjang recorded their first win of the season with a 63-59 victory over Suwon KT at Suwon KT Arena. The 122 points scored on the night were the fewest in a single game this season. Both teams shot just under 30 percent from the field (37 percent for Chung Kwan-jang, 33 percent for KT) and committed 30 turnovers.
