Tottenham end in vain…’Season out’ Perisic in verbal agreement with Croatian giants

When Ivan Perisic returns from injury, it likely won’t be to Tottenham.

“Tottenham star Perisic has reached a verbal agreement to join a new club, according to a report by Football Insider. Sources say Perisic has verbally agreed to join HNK Hajduk Split.”

Spurs announced on their website last month that “Perisic has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury to his right knee. He sustained the injury during training and will undergo surgery as a result. Perisic will begin rehabilitation with the medical team and is expected to be out of action for the remainder of the season 토토사이트.”

After the news of Perisic’s injury broke, the BBC and The Athletic reported that “Perisic is expected to miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury,” echoing the club’s announcement. Perisic was born in 1989, so it’s not impossible that his recovery could be slower.

When an ACL injury is surgically repaired, rehabilitation can take seven to eight months at the earliest. Rodrigo Bentancur, who tore his ACL in February of this year, has yet to return. It is unlikely that Perisic will be able to play any more games this season.

If that happens, we won’t see Perisic at Tottenham for much longer. His contract expires at the end of the season. If Perisic were a key player, Spurs would offer him a contract extension, but he’s not even considered a starter and he’s a big-ticket item on Spurs’ payroll. Not many teams would re-sign a player in his mid-30s with an ACL injury.

According to the source, Spurs have already given Perisic the green light to find a new team. “When his contract expires next summer, Perisic is not expected to play for Tottenham again. Instead, he has been given the green light to return to his homeland. Tottenham are reportedly willing to approve a move for Perisic in January.”

Tottenham and Hajduk Split have a history of good relations, having recently completed the transfer of 2005-born prospect Luka Vukovic. Hajduk Split have since expressed a desire to take Perisic, and negotiations seem to have begun immediately. Hajduk Split is a prestigious club in Perisic’s home country of Croatia, where he grew up and pursued his professional dreams.

Meanwhile, Perisic’s knee surgery was successful. Perisic recently shared a photo of his successful surgery on his personal social media account with the caption “Slowly but surely”. Perisic wore a brace on his right knee and posted a photo of him on crutches.
