Former SON teammate ‘world class in terms of kicking’ becomes only second player in PL history to score ‘three headers in one game’

Son Heung-min’s former teammate and Newcastle captain Kieran Trippier has reached a new milestone.

“Kieran Trippier has become only the second player in Premier League (PL) history to score three headers in a single game,” according to soccer statistics company Opta.

Newcastle United defeated Sheffield United 8-0 in the sixth round of the 2023/24 Premier League (PL) season at Bramall Lane in South Yorkshire, England on Sept. 25 (ET).

Newcastle set a new PL record on the day. All eight of Newcastle’s goals were scored by different players, a first for the PL since its inception.

It wasn’t over yet. Trippier got on the scoresheet in the 30th minute, assisting Daniel Byrne’s header from a corner. In the 34th minute, he assisted Sven Bortmann’s header with a sharp free kick. In the 55th minute, he added an assist with a pinpoint delivery to the head of Callum Wilson.

According to ‘Opta’, it was only the second time in PL history that a player has assisted three ‘headers’ in a game. The first was Jason Puncheon’s three assists against Crystal Palace and West Ham in February 2015. It’s been almost eight years since Trippier has done so.

Trippier’s kicking ability is already well established: he has 13 goals and 90 assists in 504 appearances since his professional debut. His dead-ball skills make him a force to be reckoned with on set pieces. While his defense was criticized during his time at Tottenham, his kicking was not.

He is equally adept at crossing for teammates as he is at shooting himself. He scored a free-kick against Everton in the 24th round of the 2021/22 season. The next game, in round 25, he scored the winning free kick against Aston Villa. 무지개토토

Again, Trippier played to his strengths and contributed to his team’s victory 무지개토토.
