Irving is looking forward to next season.
Dallas Mavericks coach Doc Shamrock recently appeared on the Knuckleheads Podcast. During the interview, Coach Shamrock talked about Kyrie Irving.
Last season, Irving formally requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. With the league’s most proven offensive point guard on the market, the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and others expressed interest.
The eventual winner was Dallas. The Mavs acquired Irving for Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, and a 2029 first-round pick. The Irving-Luca Doncic combination was complete.
In his first 20 games in a Dallas uniform, Irving averaged 27.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists on 51.0 percent shooting from the field and 39.2 percent shooting from three-point range with excellent volume stats. However, Dallas only went 8-12 with Irving on the floor.
In the end, Dallas finished with a 38-44 record, good for 11th place in the Western Conference. They failed to even make the playoffs, let alone the play-in tournament.
Dallas went 52-30 in the 2020-2021 season, earning the No. 4 seed. Keeping the momentum going, Dallas made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals. That makes last season’s failure all the more painful.
The Dallas trade for Irving certainly left something to be desired. However, Dallas coach Shamrock had faith in Irving.
“I’ve known Kyrie Irving since he was a little kid, and when he joined our team, I was excited because I thought we had the second-best dribbler in NBA history,” he said with a laugh.
Coach Shamgod has made a name for himself with his fancy dribbling. He has a special place in his heart for Irving, who is an equally accomplished dribbler.
“Irving’s ability is incredible. He’s one of those players who has everything. He can do it all, not just ball-handling, but layups, shots, everything,” he said.
“Irving is a great player and a great person. He’s always trying to teach the younger guys on the team 먹튀검증.”
He is confident that Irving will prove his worth next season.
“I think we’re going to see what he’s capable of next season,” Shamgod said emphatically.
