‘Tottenham belly’ Maddison “I didn’t come to Tottenham for Kane”

Tottenham’s newest star, James Maddison (27), says he didn’t sign for Harry Kane (30-Bayern Munich).

“Tottenham star James Maddison has insisted he did not sign a contract to play alongside Harry Kane,” British outlet TalkSPORT reported on Aug. 8 (KST).

Maddison joined Spurs this summer from Leicester City. After being an ace for the relegated Foxes last season, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists in 30 league games, he was looking for a new challenge ahead of this season.

So far this season, Maddison has been one of Spurs’ newest stars. Alongside Spurs’ new captain, Son Heung-min (31), he has been at the top of his game, leading the team’s offense. Currently, Maddison has two goals and two assists in four English Premier League (EPL) games and was nominated for the August Player of the Month award. 메이저사이트

Initially, Maddison was expected to join Tottenham to play alongside striker Kane. Kane’s future was still up in the air at the time of Maddison’s move, with the possibility of him staying.

However, Maddison insists that Kane’s departure played no part in his decision, telling British outlet The Sun: “I’m not naive enough to join Tottenham thinking that Kane is going to stay at the club and not move on. I didn’t go to Tottenham for Kane,” he said.

“I knew there was a chance Harry would leave, but that didn’t make me despair. There was a new manager and players coming in, so it was a positive feeling. Everyone had a new mindset and there was a good energy about the club.”

Maddison also had the highest praise for Kane. “I think Harry is the best number nine in the world. “I think Harry is the best number nine in the world. I would have liked to have played with him after pre-season, but Munich is a great club and I wish him the best of luck,” he said.

“Harry is probably the best player to ever play for Tottenham and obviously still the greatest. He’s already a Tottenham legend and has nothing to prove.”

Finally, Maddison also commented on the current Tottenham offense, saying, “But they have some great players right now. In particular, the frontline attacking options are the ones who can realize the fluid game that the manager wants to play.”
