At 38 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo’s (Alnasr) trophy appetite knows no bounds.
Ronaldo scored a brace to lead Al Nasr to a 2-1 victory over Al Hilal in the 2023 Arab Club Champions League final at King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday. Al Nasr won the club’s first-ever title in the Middle East Champions League, organized by the Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA). Al-Nasr defeated Razza CA (Morocco) and Al-Shortar (Egypt) in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.
Ronaldo was the hero of the tournament. He came back from a 0-1 deficit six minutes into the second half to equalize in the 29th minute, and scored the dramatic “winning goal” eight minutes into the first overtime period of a 1-1 tie. Ronaldo, who has won countless trophies with the likes of Manchester United, Juventus, and Real Madrid, won his first trophy since moving to Saudi Arabia in January.
Ronaldo scored six goals, the most in the tournament, to take home the trophy and the title of top scorer of the tournament. However, he failed to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Al-Hilal midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was named the winner 메이저놀이터.
“Ronaldo wanted a special hat-trick (three trophies),” said Spanish outlet Marca, which released a captured photo of Ronaldo appearing to protest to what appeared to be a tournament official. Ronaldo held up two fingers in front of the official. This appears to indicate two goals. “It’s a moment that shows once more Ronaldo’s boundless ambition,” Marca wrote.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo was substituted off in extra time with a sore ankle.
